Category Manager, PVF

Location: King of Prussia, PA


The Category Manager, PVF (Pipe, Valves & Fittings) engages in responding to RFQ’s from customers on market baskets to support business objectives and secure new customer contracts. The category manager manages relationships with manufacturer partners and distributors to support their efforts to acquire competitive cost levels.  The Category Manager is a primary resource supporting internal departments including; Business Development, Sales Management, Field Service Team (FST) and Divisional Managers. Additionally, with specialized product knowledge in primary verticals, (Electrical Supply Div., Industrial Supply Div., PVF or Power Transmission Bearings) the category managers support content rationalization and development in conjunction with Divisional Managers and Data Management resources.

  • Completes RFQ’s / Market Baskets submitted by customers
  • Responsible for the development, documentation, and ongoing maintenance of customer specific pricing programs and contracts
  • Supports the data collection or review from extracts to maintain baseline pricing for the vertical they support. Including collecting price files from manufacturers, OM distributors or other business affiliates. Information is provided to data management resources for data base and system price updates.
  • Supports content and item data base processes by rationalizing, recommending and providing content to data management resources for the vertical they support.
  • Works with the Divisional Managers, FST, Owner Members, and Manufacturers to create competitive pricing programs
  • Obtains Special Pricing Agreements (SPA) from manufacturers and manages them for select National Accounts
  • Develops SPA analyses (Impact Summaries, Comparison Tables, Enhancements, etc.)
  • Handles any other corporate duties and/or projects, as assigned, for the benefit of the organization

Deliverables:

  • Completed RFQ’s / Market Baskets
  • Properly obtained, analyzed and managed SPA’s on select National Accounts
  • Supported implementation of pricing strategies
  • Support Content Initiatives

  • Marketing Assessment & Strategy; create and implement a comprehensive marketing plan to enhance supplyFORCE position and image within the marketplace.
  • Build and maintain digital marketing strategy and social media presence
  • Develop budgets for the Marketing department
  • Ensure consistency internally and externally of all supplyFORCE print and electronic marketing materials including; letterhead, logo, presentations, handouts, website, newsletters, business cards, co-branding, etc.
  • Measure and report effectiveness of marketing programs, publications, and communications.
  • Maintain supplyFORCE website.
  • Manage newsletters including content management & development and design.
  • Create and develop supplyFORCE branded materials, including; Power Point presentations, brochures, cards, etc.
  • Design signage and provide promotional materials for the office, trade shows, and events.
  • Develop, manage, and facilitate manufacturer webinars in GoToWebinar.
  • Work with internal and external resources to plan, coordinate and execute annual National Meeting.
  • Manage registration and coordinate attendance for industry events.

Experience:

Minimum 3 years’ experience in Pipe, Valve and Fitting market, with solid product knowledge and experience with distribution and manufacturer relationships. Negotiation and collaborative skills are highly valued for this role.

Minimum two to three years’ experience in marketing or industry served.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience
