supplyFORCE New Member Press Release

Effective June 15, 2006 Johnston Industrial Supply Company is a new Industrial Supply Division (ISD) Member of supplyFORCE.

Johnston Industrial Supply was founded in 1962. The original building covered 9.000 square feet. The main product lines at that time were power transmission supplies including gears, sprockets, pulleys, belts and bearings. In the late 1960’s to early 1970’s Johnston placed more emphasis into becoming a general line supplier.

In 1974, Johnston Industrial Supply made a commitment to specialize in cutting tools. With that commitment made, they phased out power transmission supplies. They made an agreement with Union Butterfield to become a full line stocking distributor of high speed round tools. The initial order of $25,000 in metal cutting tools established Johnston Industrial as the largest stocking location in the valley. At that time, the company also made a commitment to American Saw to become a factory authorized welding center. What began as a small operation with just one welder has now become an ISO9001 certified center with six welders.

Over the years, Johnston Industrial Supply has increased inventory to include U.S. Standard, Metric and special diameter round tools as well as an extensive inventory of indexable tooling. Their abrasive line has also grown to include a wide variety of standard and specialty products including aluminum oxide, silicon carbide, zirconia and ceramic products in belts, rolls, PSA and quick-change discs.
